"I Haven't Got a Penny to My Name", 2009

As a designer I gather influences from all my surroundings, from various other artist/designers’ work to patterns on items of clothing that I own. Throughout the past 3 years of my degree I have focused on improving my design process and technique so that I may understand my own identity as a designer.

In relation to this my self-directed study looks into identity or more specifically Onomastics (the study of names) and self-referentiation. This project is an exploration of how we present ourselves in language and how the titles and names that we are given affect our lives. Working mainly in print my outcomes vary in aesthetics and concept creating a body of work that displays my improving skills in typography and print process.
