"Embrangled", 2009

The Embrangled series of drawings explore the fragile yet resolute, beautiful yet barbed weeds that flourish in abandoned urban spaces.
As I have traced through the intensity of layers and hypnotic tangles, the weeds have become a metaphor for the complexity of both human relationships and of our interaction with nature.  In the attempt to extricate ourselves from painful or unwanted truths, we often only succeed in becoming further entwined in confusion; we become truly embrangled.
